Expert In-Home Dementia Care Through DementiaWise®

We are deeply committed to creating better days for those living with dementia through person-centered care. We understand that dementia doesn’t come with an instruction manual and every individual has unique needs, but with the right support, many continue to live at home throughout the progression of the disease. Even extending time at home by six to twelve months makes a world of difference for families.

At Your Side Home Care understands that dementia is continually evolving and we adapt care plans as needs shift, with the goal of helping people live at home for as long as possible.

The report identified two specific areas of high impact:

Higher Self-Efficacy

DementiaWise (DW) training is positively associated with increased confidence among care members. The odds of higher self-efficacy in those who completed DW training were 1.6 times higher than those who had not yet participated.

Higher Job Satisfaction

Caregivers who complete the training report a more fulfilling work experience. The odds of higher satisfaction among those who watched DW materials were 2.2 times higher than those who had not.

Our Comprehensive, Customized Approach

We ensure that every client living with dementia receives personalized care designed to enhance their well-being and independence.

Our approach includes:

Our Commitment to Excellence in Training

We prioritize continuous education to ensure our team remains at the forefront of memory care. Our high engagement rates in specialized training reflect our dedication to quality.

73.37% of all employees enrolled in our Learning Management System (LMS) have successfully completed DementiaWise® training.

In comparison to industry standards, this enrollment rate is a significant accomplishment and demonstrates our team's deep commitment to specialized dementia care.

Percentages are accurate as of August 2022 and represent the total number of caregivers enrolled in the LMS (including both active and inactive employees).

The DementiaWise® Difference

While many agencies offer basic "memory care" or "companionship," DementiaWise® sets a higher standard by integrating:

  • Evidence-Based Home Care Strategies: Our methods are built on proven scientific research specifically designed for the home environment.
  • A Collaborative Team Approach: Our caregivers don't work in isolation. They are backed by clinical and emotional support through protocols that help identify the root causes of distress. Solutions are developed through a team-led effort, ensuring comprehensive care and specialized problem-solving.
  • National Recognition and Validation: Our program is validated by the Alzheimer’s Association for meeting quality care standards and is supported by a Duke University study demonstrating the training’s measurable impact.
  • Comprehensive Training for Real-World Solutions: Our curriculum includes over seven hours of intensive training, on key areas, including:
    • Recognizing that dementia affects functional abilities, not just memory, and many areas still remain that we continue to leverage.
    • Mastering care strategies for early, middle, and late-stage dementia.
    • How to integrate meaningful engagement that stimulates the mind and body and continues to honor one’s personhood.
    • Proven techniques and tools for effective daily communication and support.
    • Integrating sensory-based care which eases personal care tasks and improves mealtime.
    • How to integrate music into routine care plans as a way to reduce agitation and help individuals connect in a meaningful way. Listen to songs from our very own Steve Toll.

This specialized care routinely reduces challenging behaviors by identifying underlying triggers, reduces boredom by leveraging remaining abilities through tailored activities and builds trust through consistency, creating a more peaceful environment for everyone.
